Tours and Travel to Sacred Destinations
Demetra has been leading tours to sacred sites in Greece, Turkey, India, and Egypt since 1992.
Her co-facilitators include friends and colleagues such as Vicki Noble, Michael Mayer, Brian Clark, Melanie Reinhart, Cathy Harner, Dennis Harness and Andrea Mikana-Pinkham.
Beyond the beauty of the landscape, the grandeur of the archaeological remains, and the indomitable spirits of the people, the most powerful revelation is the presence of the healing energy that continues to emanate from the sacred sites and is ever available for restoring body and soul.
Upcoming 2015 Tour
Sirens, Sibyls and Seers
A Traveling Symposium in Southern Italy
with Demetra George M.A.
Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Paestum, Naples, Cuma, Lake Avernus
October 24 – November 3, 2015
In antiquity, three prophetic traditions were centered within the curve of the Bay of Naples, where the first Greek colonists set ashore in Italy. Here, the enchanting Sirens melodious voices sang of all that ever was or will be. Here the Sibyl of Cumae prophesized from her cave, ‘singing the fates’ that guided Aeneas to an entrance into the underworld. And here Thrasyllus, head of the Library of Alexandria and court astrologer to the Roman Emperors spent the final years of his life at Tiberius’ palace at the summit of the island of Capri. We will explore these varied divinatory traditions along with the ecstatic cult of Bacchus at Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii through a unique fusion of travel to sacred sites; seminars on myth, art, history, ancient literature; meditation and ritual; and personalizing our experiences and insights with archetypal astrology.
Our special guest art historian Surjeet Anna, Ph.D., who lives in Sorrento and teaches at universities in Naples and Rome will share her wealth of knowledge and ease us through the sumptuous bounty of Italian custom, food, and culture.
COST: $4995 includes 10 nights accommodation based on double occupancy in 4 star hotels with private facilities, all breakfasts, two dinners, four lunches, all transportation within Italy, entrance fees to all museums and archaeological sites, tips, taxes, guides, six seminars, and conference materials.
